We’re two women who want the best for children. One day we decided to combine our experience, passion and skill to create a unique community playspace that can be accessible and affordable to every family in the Greater Portland area.
Our background includes a natural approach to learning; degree in education; expertise in speech and language acquisition; business knowledge; respect for the environment; support of local businesses; humble and nature-oriented upbringing; and, most
importantly, love for children.
We believe in a child’s basic need for play that’s never stagnant. Children should be able to dream, create, evolve every day, to have adventures and challenges in their exciting world of childhood.
1. To provide young children (ages 0-5) with a fun, creative and skill-building environment that encourages a child's exploration and play;
2. To serve as a local resource destination to families in the Greater Portland community.

| OPEN 7 DAYS |
Whatever suits your family’s schedule -- whether your child is at day care, preschool, kindergarten or stays at home, the Center is open every day, including weekends (except for selected holidays.) |
1) Do you have to be a member to visit The Peekaboo Children's Center?
No. Currently group memberships are available for daycare centers, schools and other organizations. For greater savings we offer 10-visit passes (pay as you go, get the 11th visit free). If there is an interest in an individual membership, please submit your request to our "Suggestions" box located at the front desk or send an e-mail to feedback@peekaboocenter.com.
2) What age is the Center suited for?
For children ages 0-5. We admit older children (up to 7 years of age with younger siblings). However, please note that most of the Center's toys and activity stations are designed for children ages 0-5 years.
3) Are any special "play clothes" necessary to attend the Center?
No special "play clothes" are necessary. However, all visitors must wear socks beyond the reception area and leave their shoes in a designated area at the Center. Used, clean socks are available free of charge in the reception area; new socks can be purchased at the front desk. Small children may wear shoes that are intended for indoor use (i.e., with clean, soft soles).
4) Do you offer any classes?
Not at the moment. Suggestions for classes and theme events are always welcome. Please stop by our front desk or e-mail feedback@peekaboocenter.com.
5) Is your facility wheel chair accessible?
Yes. You may use the ramp at the main entrance. Take an elevator to the second floor. Turn left and walk all the way towards the East side of the building (or follow signs for "Jukado"). Pass Jukado on your right, the next door over on your left is the Peekaboo Children's Center.
6) Can I get a refund for a paid admission ticket and/or 10-visit pass?
Please inquire with a receptionist at the front desk or refer to our Center's Policies manual available at our Center.
7) Are there any events for children?
Yes. We will be featuring events regularly for families. Many events will be free and open to the public. Please check our Calendar for more details.
8) Why aren't there any Sesame Street, Disney or other popular character toys at the Center?
We want to provide an equal opportunity play for everyone. There are so many characters available that we cannot possibly carry every brand. It would be unfair to offer only some.
9) How is the Peekaboo Center different from any other play space available to children in the area?
We're the only play space for children ages 0-5 in the Greater Portland area which provides many opportunities for varieties of play. We offer affordable admission, flexible hours, natural and safe toys, clean facilities, fresh ideas for crafts (many are available to visitors for FREE with a paid admission), a wide variety of activities, family events, community support -- shall we say more? 10) What's this fuss about play?
Our "Back to Basics" belief focuses on a child's natural talents and spontaneous, simplistic ways of interpreting his/her world. In the first years of life, a child develops and works on so many skills -- these skills get refined with practice over time. Play is the activity every child embraces with gusto and excels at, at a very early age. It is an effortless way for little ones to reach out, learn about and function in the surrounding environment. 11) Would children with unique needs benefit from playing at the Peekaboo Center?
As we designed the Center's facilities, we tried to keep all young children in mind. Our toys and activity stations are intended to touch upon many interests and unique needs. We would like to support programs designed specifically for children of various abilities. Please tell us what you wish to see at the Center -- we will work hard to make it happen.
